We are so unworthy of God’s grace, but became worthy for free when He sent His son to die for us. I’m sure you’ve heard something along those lines before, but a lot of us don’t actually soak in what all of that means.
As sinners, we do things that make us unworthy of God’s love all the time. There are days where we might feel like the things we do block us from God and that we can never break down those walls. Maybe we feel trapped by our sins and that we could never be forgiven. Or sometimes, it might seem like we just aren’t worthy of grace or love from anyone, especially God. But I’m going to tell you, none of that is true. Anyone and everyone has been made worthy of God’s love.
There is no way you can work for it or earn it. The grace and love of God are given to us FOR FREE. Isn’t that just amazing? We can get down on our knees, ask for forgiveness, sit in His presence, or just pray and God is already there with His arms wide open, willing to give us His love and grace. Wow. Sometimes, it even sounds too good to be true. We have to work so hard for everything in this world, and when we hear that the Creator of the Universe is willing to accept us no matter what, love us to no end, and offer us His grace, it’s hard to believe.
Ephesians 2:4-9 says: “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, …”
For by grace you have been saved through faith. I love that one verse in particular. By God’s grace, we are saved from the sins of this world due to the fact that we have faith in Him. That is incredible to me. Give up your heart to the Lord and release yourself from the burdens you carry. Don’t try to hide the sins in your life, lift them up to the Lord and trust that in return He will always offer you mercy and love.
Every now and then, we all need to remind ourselves that God gives us His love, grace, and compassion for free. There is no way to work for His love because His mercy alone is what makes us alive with Christ. We are all made worthy. Continue your day with joy and love in your heart because we have received the ultimate gift of God’s love for free, and that is something to smile about.
